About me

I live in Dubbo, Western NSW and have been drawing, painting and illustrating almost all my life. Over the last decade, I’ve taken a lot of time away from my art production to pursue work goals and study but now I’m pleased to say, I have returned to my much-loved art practice with even more enthusiasm and passion.

The subject matter for my work is sourced from real life studies, my imagination and my memories. Realism is explored, enhanced and intertwined with expression, illustration and lyrical naivety.
I put a lot of effort into my initial composition and am emphatic about the chiaroscuro or light and dark of my work, both of which can increase the drama of something mundane or everyday”.

Education

I completed a Certificate in Fine Arts (TAFE, NSW 1984 – 89) and Digital Applications I and II (TAFE, NSW 2002). I completed Adobe Illustrator and InDesign courses (North London, 2012). I also hold a Bachelor of Communications degree (CSU 2013) and a Diploma of Business Administration (TAFE, NSW 2006).

Exhibitions

Previous to my break from art, I exhibited my paintings and drawings throughout Western NSW. I have sold work privately and by commission. My art work can be found in private collections in Australia, UK and Japan.

Influences

My work is influenced by what I see every day; in people and things around me and by my memories of living in the UK, Africa and Australia. Old and new photographs, the faces of people I see, colourful flowers and tactile animals.  All of these subjects have a profound influence on my work. Realism and niave works of other artists are also influencial. “I am lucky that I have had the opportunity to visit many galleries all over the world and I love looking at the work of great masters like Bosch, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Rossetti, Klimt and Rousseau to name just a few and of course not forgetting my favourite Australian’s Nolan and Lindsay”.
